Don Ladas radio expertise in 1954 was limited, but that did not stop him for applying to an open sportscaster position at WJOL in Joliet, Illinois. In fifty-four years, he had become a member of nine halls of Fame, had the longest-running bowling broadcast nationwide, rubbed elbows with national sport stars, all in addition to his dedication to his community.

The Joliet Area Historical Museum opened in 2002 with the goal to preserve and share Joliet's rich history. Over the years, this has grown to include the Route 66 Welcome Center and the Old Joliet Prison Historic Site. We strive daily to tell the stories that make this such a unique city!
