At the end of the Blues Brothers movie, the band is playing and the
backdrop is “It’s Never Too Late to Mend”. This saying is actually in
the floor of the Old Joliet Prison in the segregation unit. As inmates walked in and out of the building, they were reminded it was never too late to mend their ways.

The Joliet Area Historical Museum opened in 2002 with the goal to preserve and share Joliet's rich history. Over the years, this has grown to include the Route 66 Welcome Center and the Old Joliet Prison Historic Site. We strive daily to tell the stories that make this such a unique city!
