Personal Accounts Along the Mother Road to California.... A book written by Claudia and Alan Heller who traveled from their home in Durante, California, along Route 66 after retirement. They collected stories about the "iconic highway" on their travels to Chicago, and shared truly what Route 66 means to the people living alongside it.
The Joliet Area Historical Museum opened in 2002 with the goal to preserve and share Joliet's rich history. Over the years, this has grown to include the Route 66 Welcome Center and the Old Joliet Prison Historic Site. We strive daily to tell the stories that make this such a unique city!
