The Civil War Years in Will County, Illinois: A Reprint of Fifteen Years Ago or the Patriotism of Will County by George H. Woodruff 1876. Provides a detailed look into Will County during the American Civil War with looks at the history of Will County itself, the Regimental histories of the units that served during the war, accounts of experiences in prisoner of war prisons, a look at individual soldiers from Will County, Illinois, and a complete listing of every soldier from Will County (the Rooster and Munster Roll).
The Joliet Area Historical Museum opened in 2002 with the goal to preserve and share Joliet's rich history. Over the years, this has grown to include the Route 66 Welcome Center and the Old Joliet Prison Historic Site. We strive daily to tell the stories that make this such a unique city!
